My SMTP server is different from my mail server.
If TB is closed, and I compose a new message (e.g. Send Link from a browser), I get prompted for the SMTP password, and the message is transmitted. But when TB goes to save the copy into the Sent folder, that fails because it doesn't have the password for the mail account.
I don't want to be prompted for that password; I want the Sent copy to be saved in Local Folders/Sent.
The same may be considered for the Drafts folder when closing a message without sending it (similar use case).

FYI. Bug 28211 and bug 354064 are request of "prompt for save location upon save error".
That behavior sounds like a good alternative, also to avoid the "surprise factor" of the sent or draft mail being stored in the fallback folder automatically. As a minimum, a dialog should inform the user about "Stored in Local Folders instead" but then one could equally go with bug 28211/bug 354064 and implement a "Save As" solution with the Local Folders being a reasonable default.
