Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0
Build ID: 20120425123149
Steps to reproduce:
Enter URL in address-bar (either manually or from autocomplete), press enter.
Actual results:
Desired page opens, but with "TabHistory" widget showing that you have a prior history within this tab.
Even if you disable "browser.newtabpage.enabled" but leave "browser.newtab.url" as "about:newtab" you still have history leading back to a completely empty page.
Only when you set "browser.newtab.url" to "about:blank" you have no annoying unnecessary history lighting up HistoryWidget and misleading you to believe that you have a history with this tab.
Expected results:
Consistently with "History" menu, when my URL loads I should not be confused to believe that I have anything else visited besides my target.
No confusing "TabHistory" indications should be present.
Because if "TheNewTabPage" is not registering in your history, it shouldn't show up in your "TabHistory widget as well.
Just confirmed on Win7 machine the same behavior.
P.S. with steps to reproduce I've meant that you open a new tab, of course.
Sorry if it was confusing.
If you type another URL in address bar of the tab which has some page open already, press enter - then you have legitimate TabHistory - which makes sense this way.
