XUL Fennec has integrated Feedback Tools, and as part of our efforts to encourage more 5 star reviews with native Fennec, I propose we have the feedback happy/sad face buttons as well. When a user clicks on the happy face, it will direct them to the Google Play Store app where they can rate us there, and if they click on the sad face they can provide us feedback at http://m.input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback#sad Being able to funnel the negative reviews to Input will help keep our Google Play ratings afloat, and give us a better way to digest the negative experiences (e.g they can provide us the website they were having issues with) Thoughts?
So the concern in the past here was that we may be redirecting people away from the market, which is the feedback that matters in getting adoption.
OS: Mac OS X → Android
Hardware: x86 → ARM
If they tap on the happy face we could redirect them to the Google Play Store to continue to write their positive review there, then we can concentrate most of the negative issues in input and away from the Google Play Store
That would be great for our ratings, but I wonder if some people (and the press?) would perceive it as unfairly gaming the system.
Re comment #2 (thinking out loud) * Site access or Android application? I assume we would want a new intent with the market:// URI * With that there's a reliance on access to Google Play application installed and accessible (Google account) * Reliance on Firefox install from Google Play in order to provide feedback (Would a chance of single-locale site-installed builds register as an installed application detected on Google Play?)
(In reply to Matt Brubeck (:mbrubeck) from comment #3) > That would be great for our ratings, but I wonder if some people (and the > press?) would perceive it as unfairly gaming the system. I dont think it would be gaming the system because they still have the choice to go to the Google Play Store on their own to give their negative feedback if they choose to, but I see it as directing their constructive feedback to a channel that would help us fix the issues easier We also get quite a few of positive comments in Input, but they're less helpful in Input than they would in the Google Play Store
It's a bit gamey; are there ways to have our cake and eat it, too? Could we have "Give us feedback!" or "Review Firefox" take you to the market, and have "Report a Problem" as a separate item? That would direct problem reporting into a more beneficial channel (input) without being quite so on the nose about only steering positive feedback to the market? Bug reports really do belong somewhere other than marketplace reviews, so breaking that out as a separate task feels righteous and non-gamey to me. Driving all other feedback to the marketplace sounds fine, too.
Sounds like a good way to approach it. I would probably have "Report a problem" as the first button they see, then "Review Firefox"
I would really prefer that anything titled 'Report a problem' come to SUMO (support.mozilla.org/mobile). I can't help anyone who posts problems on input. Please use the words 'Send feedback' for the thing that goes to input if we add it back into the product.
This may be a dupe. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=701463 Nigelb is getting really close to having Tell Us More[1] (allowing folks to file bugs on Nightlies/Aurora builds via input.mozilla.com) working on Input as well. [1] https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/TellUsMore
Not so much about SUMO/bugs, but giving users a chance to easily voice their frustrations when they have a bad experience, and for users who love us to voice themselves in a valuable public place
