(I already reported this to Firebug ( http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=5456 ) but it seems related to a recent change in nightly). This happens in Firefox Nightly on GNU/linux, with Firebug 1.10.0a7 When I switch from or to a tab in which the Firebug Console is opened, Firefox freezes for several seconds. I tested in a fresh new profile, with no other extension. To reproduce, just open several tabs, enable Firebug's console in some of them and start working. After a while, leaving a tab with Firebug opened, or going to a tab where Firebug is opened, takes 2 or 3 seconds, during which the CPU is high. It becomes more and more noticeable when you have lots of tabs opened. In my working profile, with around 100 tabs opened, I sometime wait 15 or 20 seconds before displaying the tab. If I switch from or to tabs not using Firebug, everything is just fine. The problem appeared less than a week ago. I attached to the process with strace during the freeze. It loops on 2 system calls : getrusage(RUSAGE_SELF, {ru_utime={2539, 454706}, ru_stime={219, 85692}, ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1336668996, 197822}, NULL) = 0
