Using build 2001-04-09 (note also happens with 6.01) on linux only, when you
select a mail message to print you will see a smaller window popup filled with
the mail message titled "Printing...". It goes away, then the correct print
window comes up with the printer settings, this window is titled "Print". This
does not happen when Printing the Browser page or a Composer page.
1. Launch Mail
2. Select a mail message and click the Print button (or use the menu)
3. Notice a window pops up (as described above) then goes away. The Print
window then comes up.
Result: Notice a window pops up (as described above) then goes away. The Print
window opens with the printer settings, then comes up.
Expected: Only the Print window with settings should come up.

Changing to platform all since this is on PC too.
I think what is happening is mozilla is rendering the mail message into a new
format with shading etc., and using the window to do that and then printing this
new small window. I agree this is annoying and unprofessional looking.

I have this problem with win2k. The "Printing..." dialog is on the bottom right.

Since the browser does not exhibit this behavior, I think we should fix this
now. In addition to having the little window just visible in the lower right
corner, it also has the annoying effect of causing the nt print dialog to show
up partially off screen (presumably so it overlaps some portion of the little
window.)
How is the browser getting away without using this little window, why can't mail
do that too?

strange I don't get this window on my win2k box. It's supposed to show up off
screen.

Duplicated under W2K with 2001-12-10-03.
All I did was select a message in the Inbox, and click File, Print. The print
dialog came up partially offscreen. Printing from the browser works fine. The
little "Printing..." window appears partially offscreen at the bottom right as well.
OS: Linux → All
Summary: Printing mail msgs, brings up a small window first then the print dialog window → Printing messages brings up both a small Printing... dialog and the printer dialog window partially offscreen

I have already started deploying Mozilla on a few select workstations at my
office, and believe it or not, this bug has generated more complaints than any
other.
I know this just got moved to 1.2, but nominating for 1.0 anyway, cause Sandi in
the sales department isnt going to give me a moment's peace about it until it is
fixed :)
