User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0
Build ID: 20120420145725
Steps to reproduce:
Click on 'Sports' item in Yahoo main page
Actual results:
Yahoo Sports page displays, then automatically jumps down to some middle part of the page; usually in vicinity of a blocked ad.
Expected results:
Page should be displayed and remain at the top. It should not automatically jump down.
This happens on numerous pages, the attached example shows the Yahoo Sports page displayed after auto-jumpdown.

Can you reproduce this in the Firefox safemode ?

If you blocked some host then this is duplication of bug 748803
Has the page been loaded before? Some websites cache a previously scrolled to position and will jump down automatically on load.

Hello Anthony:
In response to your question below, No. Even with cache cleared the page auto-jumps down to an apparently blocked ad.
Screen snaps are attached:
JumpDown1.jpg results from selecting "Sports" from the Yahoo main page menu.
Also in addition to dozens of various Warnings (parsing/unknown property/css) there are 2 console Errors:
Timestamp: 5/26/2012 10:44:47 PM
Error: Y.Sports.Draft is undefined
Source File: http://sports.yahoo.com/
Line: 1001
Timestamp: 5/26/2012 10:45:40 PM

JumpDown2.jpg results from selecting "NHL" in the Yahoo Sports page.
There were no Errors displayed in the console.
This behavior happens in any Yahoo page where an ad is blocked.
Frame info for several of these ads shows:

Do you have autoscrolling enabled? Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing

Use Autoscrolling is checked. Use Smooth Scrolling is unchecked.
These settings have not been changed by me. If Autoscrolling is the cause of the 'jumpdown' to blocked ads, then it seems to only affect certain ads and/or FF12 has changed the default setting to Use Autoscrolling.
To test this, I unchecked UseAutoscrolling, saved the changes, deleted the recent history and relaunched FF12. The same jumpdown behavior was observed.
This does not occur in Opera. I do not use Google or IE.

Matti:
The FF pop-up window block is checked, and there is a Hosts file.
If Mozilla has an updated/automated Hosts or cookieperm list, send the link and I will try that.
**However, it is important to keep in mind that this 'jumpdown' behavior did not occur in the previous FF, nor does it occur in Opera.**

There is of course a host file. The host file is part of most OS. You can block some hosts if you add entries to this file and we have a known bug in Firefox12 that will cause the reported behavior.
Please try Firefox 13 beta where this bug is fixed.
