In MindTouch-based MDN, there's a cronjob in apps/docs/cron.py which periodically grabs the list of popular pages from the wiki and updates a popular.json file. The Django site uses this JSON to pick a random popular page to highlight as the "Doc of the Day". But, this popular data will no longer be available in Kuma, and I don't think we track the metrics necessary to produce it. So, this will need either some work to measure page popularity to reimplement "Doc of the Day" as it was, or some other mechanism to choose a page to highlight.
Going to go out on a limb and say that we can launch in July without this feature, and think about prioritizing it shortly thereafter.

Agreed. I'm all for minimalism. Sheppy, Janet: Do you use this feature? Do contributors?
No, I don't use it. I would like to be able to see what are the most popular pages, so we know where improvements would have the most impact. But "doc of the day" seems pretty useless. Nobody has ever mentioned to me that they use it.
Thanks, Janet. I think it would be best to table this for now. If someone from the community comes forward and expresses a need for it, we could reevaluate its priority then.
Sheppy also feels that we don't need this. Closing...
