It'd be handy to someday be able to quickly find and link to related blog posts by doing a search of planet.mozilla.org from within the Kuma editor UI. This is obviously a low-priority item, just putting it out there to have it on the long-term ideas list.

Quite Mozilla specific wiki feature. The planet.mozilla.org site is powered by http://www.intertwingly.net/code/venus/ and I couldn't find a (search) API for it. I also doubt planet mozilla is the only good resource for such blog posts. We are documenting cross-browser open web technologies and I think there might be more aggregations out there.

Given how popular planet posts are, there is a good chance that we find them via search engine searches as well. So, I don't know how these posts differ that much from normal sites we find during research for documentation.

We could also communicate better to planet mozilla blog authors (or to tech article authors in general) that linking to their blog posts in our "See also" sections of the related technology pages is of course welcome. So that they will add those on their own.

Leaning towards wontfixing here. Opinions?

Don't need to WONTFIX per se but this would be a pretty complex project.

Do we have measurable values we could attach to the problem this solves?

I think maybe refining what we should do here. I'd love to see a way to at least support searching a specified set of blogs, so that major Mozilla and Mozillians' blogs show up in search results.

I can see how this would be an incremental improvement to contribution workflows. But I think the benefit is slight, and the investment is great, and the complexity it would add is high. I suggest we WONTFIX this and continue working around it as we have been.

Agreed. This might be a nifty contributor opportunity; a Firefox add-on or something that does a search of Planet blogs for related material.
