Attached image Suggested Mockup #1
The header on Firefox Affiliates is rather large, especially on pages outside of the front page. We should try and consolidate. Note that this will be a temporary measure until the entire site is redesigned as part of bug 742961. I've attached a mockup of my ideas. This is only meant to start the discussion, as evidenced by how messy it looks (I'm just a webdev who likes to play around with Firebug! :P). Notes on the suggestion mockup: - The Mozilla Firefox mark should be replaced with an Affiliates logo and name, similar to how Firefox Flicks uses it's logo in the header. I've seen a bullhorn cartoon being thrown around as the unofficial Affiliates logo before. - I wanted to move the nav items up into the top area as Flicks does, but the styling on it now is kind've odd since it's stolen from the menu that was there. Feel free to suggest massive changes here. - I like the idea of having a user bar similar to flicks, but couldn't think of anything to put into it besides the user buttons. Perhaps the user's name and gravatar could be removed from the leaderboard box and put in the bar instead?
So I really like it cleaner and smaller. Yay! My concern is that we lose the Universal nav and Tazbilla isn't localized yet. Ty, where do we stand in terms of application sites and the universal nav. We could use a little direction from creative on this about what you'd like in terms of nav elements. Thanks! C
I do think trimming the header is great idea, and I do like the idea of bringing the Name + gravatar within that top box. I also think we could include "Create a Banner" in the global nav area, and then remove the toggle navigation with the content area. Im checking with brand to see what we can do about giving affiliates its own wordmark. Its a tricky one though considering we have L10n to consider and these changes seem to be dependent on having a logo and wordmark though.
