User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0 Build ID: 20120602011918 Steps to reproduce: Firefox was freezing so I restarted it in safe mode from a terminal Use an existing bookmark or follow a link in a page that worked before today's upgrade freeze firefox for minutes. Many links cause this error. I run under Ubuntu 10.04 (x86_64-linux-gnu) Actual results: The message : "plugin-container: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetVersion" appears on the terminal on witch I started firefox and firefox is frozen for minutes. Then a popup window says: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: jar:file:///home/pascal/.mozilla/firefox/fuenxlyc.default/extensions/%7B7f57cf46-4467-4c2d-adfa-0cba7c507e54%7D.xpi!/components/mafContentPolicy.js:110 Either I click the "Stop" or "Continue" button, firefox freezes again for minutes and the popup appears again. Expected results: Simply open the links as they did before the upgrade of this morning

The error message suggests an error in an addon. (Mozilla Archive Format addon perhaps?) Do you have this installed? Are you sure you ran in safe mode?

(In reply to Neil Deakin from comment #1) > The error message suggests an error in an addon. (Mozilla Archive Format > addon perhaps?) > > Do you have this installed? Are you sure you ran in safe mode? I started firefox from the console as: firefox -safe-mode All plugins were disabled (I checked from firefox). I had this Mozilla Archive Format addon installed so I removed it completely, restarted in safe mode again and the popup does not show up anymore. But firefox still freeze as soon as the message "/usr/lib/firefox/plugin-container: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/firefox/libxul.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetVersion" appears at the console. This happens on many sites.
I think I am not the only one who encountered this problem: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.desktop.trinity.user/2040 It looks like firefox 13 does not behave well with flash contents...
I reported the same issue in Launchpad some days ago and just ran into this bug here. Here's the link to the Launchpad report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1010208

We're in the process of removing support for plugins (bug 1677160), so I think this bug is irrelevant now.
