This bug is rising from the ashes of bug 724056 to create a new type of mobile landing page for us. Starting it off as a design bug so Lee can get the layout put together, then we can flow in new copy as needed.

Goal: create a page that can serve as a general landing spot for users & press who are wondering about our mobile efforts (this includes Fennec, B2G, etc).

Elements include:
- headline (probably best to simply use the line from the latest EC1 billboard, which reads "Small screen. Big ideals.")
- main promo spot dedicated to the Android launch. We should repurpose messaging from existing pages as much as possible. The video currently being created by EC1 would be a good visual element to highlight.
- smaller promo about B2G that includes:
* general statement about what it is
* some small image if possible (not a logo)
* link to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/b2g/
* link to http://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2012/02/27/mozilla-in-mobile-the-web-is-the-platform/
* link to http://pressoffice.telefonica.com/jsp/base.jsp?contenido=/jsp/notasdeprensa/notadetalle.jsp&id=0&idm=eng&pais=1&elem=17874
* link to http://hacks.mozilla.org/2012/02/mozillas-boot-to-gecko-the-web-is-the-platform/
- list of 'in the news' type links that includes the following:
* Developer info - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile
* Gary at CTIA - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9E4GsvvJoc&feature=relmfu
* Gary at TED - http://www.ted.com/talks/gary_kovacs_tracking_the_trackers.html
* DNT in mobile - http://blog.mozilla.org/privacy/2012/02/28/do-not-track-goes-mobile-mozilla-demos-preference-at-mobile-world-congress/

Lee, I know this page isn't as fully formed as the others...I'd be glad to spend some time with you on Monday blocking it out.

Thanks!

This affects other bugs as well, but probably best to ask here: I've seen this headline written a few different ways — sometimes with periods, sometimes with a comma, sometimes with "Small screen" first, sometimes with it second. Which one is correct? Thanks.
Let's go with "Big ideals. Small screen."

Here's a pass at our new Mobile page.

- B2G content is taken from B2G page, this can change (?)
- Firefox Android content greeked FPO

Matej, I think this page could use your copy touches next.
Would it make more sense if the Firefox for Android copy block is below the Firefox for Android promo up top? Then have the B2G content? Fewer people would be coming to this page for B2G as well
Lee, this looks great. As a general copy point, lets use sentence case in subheads and links. So the stuff along the side should look like this:

Mozilla is mobile

The Web is the platform »
Developer info »
Privacy & Do Not Track »

In the news

Telefónica and Mozilla pioneer first open Web devices »
Gary Kovacs at CTIA »
Gery Kovacs at TED »

(Should we say "Mozilla CEO Gary Kovacs" in those last two?)

I'll put the rest of the copy changes in a separate comment.
Here's the rest of the copy:

Firefox for Android

Based on the same principles and technologies as our desktop browser, Firefox for Android is fast, smart, safe and full of innovations that let you type less, browse more and get to the Web quickly and easily. Our latest version includes improved performance, the latest privacy and security features and a redesigned look and feel.

Taking mobile further

We launched the Boot to Gecko project to build the Web as the platform for mobile devices. That includes implementing new Web standards that aren't restricted by the rules of existing proprietary platforms. As with all Mozilla projects, Boot to Gecko is based entirely on open standards and the source code is accessible to all.

+1 for copy, although I do think B2G should be above Android in the text blurb area (b/c Android is already called out prominently in the promo slot).
new mockup attached with copy revisions
We decided this afternoon to add a 3rd copy section at the bottom about the Marketplace...Matej, can you write up a quick blurb for that? You can use mozilla.org/apps as the starting point...general theme is "launch your app on the Web".

Could even be a close variation on this (from the /apps page):
"Building apps for the Web provides developers with full control over content, functionality and how apps are distributed, including access to hundreds of millions of Firefox users through the Mozilla Marketplace."

Thanks!
How's this?

Apps on the Web

We're bringing our core values — openness, freedom, user choice — to the world of apps and giving developers with full control over content, functionality and how apps are distributed, including access to hundreds of millions of Firefox users through the Mozilla Marketplace.

+1, thanks Matej.
Thanks for the copy, Matej!
New mockup attached....
Is this the type of page that should also have breadcrumbs?

Everything else looks good!

Thanks Lee!
