With the patch on bug 695173 the selection handles sometimes are clipped and don't draw fully. Zooming in makes them draw properly, so perhaps there's some invalidation badness happening here.
I'm not sure if we want to keep this open to investigate some underlying layout problem, but this won't affect text selection anymore because of bug 774938.
