Steps to reproduce:

using firefox 12

firefox sync setup -- I Have an Account -- "Pair a Device" page: I don't have the device with me -- "Sign In" page: click on 'reset password'

the link uses local server address only after something has been entered into the textboxes of 'Password', 'Account', and 'Recovery Key'
note: the entered values can be wrong

The target of 'reset password' link does not change even if you delete recovery key and/or the password and/or the local server address



Actual results:

the 'reset password' link links to
https://account.services.mozilla.com/forgot


Expected results:

from my point of view:
if a local server is provided, the target of 'reset password' link should use the local address of 'Server', even if 'Account', 'Password', or 'Recovery Key' textboxes are empty

the described behaviour is present in Firefox ESR 10.5 as well as in Firefox 13. Tested with Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit as well as Fedora 16 x86_64.



Furthermore the same problem applies to:
firefox 13 -- tools -- Set up Sync... -- [I Have an Account] -- I don't have the device with me -- I have lost my other device

the local server address is only recognized, if account, password and recovery key text fields are not empty.

Could you please check if the bug still exists in the latest version of Firefox.
