I tried to quit Firefox with only my app tabs (Gmail, Reader, Twitter) open. The window went away but the app kept running. I think this was with yesterday's nightly. I had an update pending.

I hit this again today. I tried to shut down Firefox while my uplink was down.
Related to bug 705617?

Benoit, have you collected any shutdown profiles matching Jesse's?
No, we wont capture profiles if the shutdown doesn't complete.
It might be worth checking anyway. It's possible that a slow (rather than unresponsive) server would result in a slow (rather than hangy) shutdown.

Hi reporter,

I am not able to replicate the issue. I've tried on windows 10 pro, firefox 85.0.1 (64-bit)
Is this issue still ocurring to you? If so, can you test the issue while in Safe Mode. You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .
Thanks for the report.

Best regards, Clara.

With e10s, we'll kill content processes that are hanging with sync XHR, so this is less of an issue.
