L10n wiki URL was moved to be under the L10n wiki namespace. Please see https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:FFOlympics
Oh, thanks Jeff. I swear I thought I grabbed the updated link you shared! sorry about that.

Jeff, what process will you be using to add localized copy to the code for the tab? gettext and Verbatim? We now have a dozen social media contributors who localize our Facebook content each week. Some of them may be able to help localize this tab. Also, what is the deadline for handing off English copy (bug 766475) to begin localization? Want to make sure we allow enough time for the tab to be live on July 25. Thanks!

Want to make sure we allow enough time for the tab to be > live on July 25. Thanks! As for a deadline for handing off English copy, that will depend on what we'll be using to localize (Facebook or Verbatim), how many target locales you have (at least 11, according to the form), as well as how long your English content is. It's safe to estimate that every 200 words could require one hour to translation. Tara, do you have specific languages in mind for India and the Phillipines? There are many languages found in each regions.
Hey guys, the text for the custom tab will be minimal and similar in length to the snippet copy. The only thing we may add will likely be a clearer CTA like " hover over these to try them on, click to apply" etc. since we'll have the theme gallery delivered through an iframe there. wrt the specific language in India and Phillipines, I don't have an answer to be honest. What have we usually done there? who would I contact to learn more about that? A deadline for handing off the text would be greatly appreciated. I'm also not clear on how the custom tab will be localized... I'll reach out to webdev and see how this is usually handled. Any advice would be appreciated.

Most of our fans in those regions are using English as their Facebook language.

It's difficult for us to give an exact due date for l10n simply because the length of the source strings and number of target locales will determine the time required to localize. The best we can do without frozen source strings is provide you with turnaround estimates. The L10n:NewProjects page says to anticipate 1 to 3 weeks for planning and apprx. 2 weeks for translation. As you've stated that the # of strings for each here is relatively small, estimate the minimum amount (i.e., 1 to 2 weeks of planning and 2 weeks for translation). That roughly means that we need string frozen source copy by Friday for all of the above (Pascal, correct me if I'm wrong). Another thing to mention is that the sooner string freeze happens, the more l10n teams can contribute.
Thanks guys, I should have the copy done for you by end of this week.
(In reply to William Reynolds [:williamr] from comment #4) > Jeff, what process will you be using to add localized copy to the code for > the tab? gettext and Verbatim? > Gettext as a format is fine for me but more generally, we will use what Facebook requires as file format in their documentation, not our platform :) If we use Verbatim, we need to get Milos or Gandalf involved as I am not a Verbatim expert, so as to get the files into the database. Is there a webdev person for the implementation? I can dig into facebook documentation this week to see what is needed but my guess is that there is probably some webdev involved as well as the need for a Mozilla API key to be able to dynamically add content to a Facebook page.
Hey guys, here's the copy: [HEADLINE] Show your support this summer! [COPY] Customize Firefox with your nation's flag and join us in celebrating the global spirit of community. [FIREFOX CTA] Roll over to try, click to apply. [NON-FIREFOX CTA] Download Firefox to try or apply these themes. -------- I also wanted to note that we'll have a thumbnail of roughly 50 country flags. I think it would make sense to have the country name below each one. Should I send a list of the countries for l10n? or is that something relatively easy to translate?
Hey Pascal, I wanted to add one more piece to this. We realized it would be good to add a link to the full gallery on AMO at the bottom of the page. If you can please also include: "See more Firefox Themes >>" this will be a link that sends folks to the AMO collection where they can view other themes.
Hey all, here is a google doc listing out the countries we're planning on creating designs for (based on country flags). Hope this helps, There's also a screenshot preview of what we have so far: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jHOIq9WbkOpqHSKPEM6Bw_xVNxfsT_thUMRF61h_SZg/edit
Hi there. Checking in.... any updates here ? Please let me know. Just want to make sure the l10n process has started and we have no blockers. Thanks!
