Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1
Build ID: 20120615040358
Steps to reproduce:
Go to about:config, find middlemouse.contentLoadURL, set it to true.
Actual results:
The behaviour works correctly until the browser is exited. Then on the next load of the browser, the setting has mysteriously been reset to false.
Expected results:
The ****ing setting should have stayed true.
dpkg -S firefox
its in /etc/firefox somewhere that you have to change it
It was change to false by default some time ago, try disabling the ubuntu add-ons, and safe mode, and then try mozregressions.

I think it is a dup of 660447 but *not* a dup of 337061. It does it every time the browser is launched (behaviour unrelated to having upgraded firefox, which 337061 is about).
I confirmed that disabling the ubuntu add-on extension "Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.9.5" solves the issue, then setting the state to true does persist across browser launches.
Ok so it's add-on issue as you confirmed and this comment https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=660447#c10
