Details
If there is any particular option which is a default for a good reason, and
deviating from it could be badly disadvantageous, there should be a
*(Recommended Setting: xyz)* at the end of the text.

BTW: This bug was suggested by "mpt" in bug 76648 (comment 2001-04-21, 6:55).

No it was not. I didn't say `file a useless bug, asking for something which
might or might not exist, to be fixed in a way which I haven't spelled out
exactly'.
If there are *specific* prefs for which you think the text is bad (including
those for which you think the default choice should be emphasized more), file a
*separate* bug for each of those. Note that does *not* mean file a separate bug
for every pref in the prefs dialog, just one for each of those prefs which need
it.
