Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1 Build ID: 20120615233552 Steps to reproduce: After rebooting my computer, the system tried to restart Firefox. I am using the Welsh language 64 bit binary (13.0.1) from Mozilla. (Details below.) When this failed, I tried to restart Firefox. When this failed, I tried to start Firefox from the command line in safe mode. When this also failed, I tried running the version installed through my package manager. This worked (w/o safe mode - just works normally). This is a 64 bit US English build. (The language pack for Welsh does not work which is why I usually use the full version directly from Mozilla.) Note that this bug report is (obviously) not posted from the version of Firefox I usually use! Actual results: All attempts to start the binary from Mozilla failed whether started in safe mode or not. ~/.xsession-errors includes the following: lib/firefox/plugin-container: error while loading shared libraries: libxpcom.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory However, libxpcom.so is bundled with Firefox and is present in the same directory: contents of lib/firefox/: Throbber-small.gif defaults/ libmozsqlite3.so* libsmime3.so* plugin-container* application.ini dependentlibs.list libnspr4.so* libsoftokn3.chk precomplete blocklist.xml extensions/ libnss3.so* libsoftokn3.so* removed-files chrome/ firefox* libnssckbi.so* libssl3.so* run-mozilla.sh* chrome.manifest firefox-bin* libnssdbm3.chk libxpcom.so* searchplugins/ components/ icons/ libnssdbm3.so* libxul.so* update-settings.ini crashreporter* libfreebl3.chk libnssutil3.so* mozilla-xremote-client* updater* crashreporter-override.ini libfreebl3.so* libplc4.so* omni.ja updater.ini crashreporter.ini libmozalloc.so* libplds4.so* platform.ini Application info from application.ini: [App] Vendor=Mozilla Name=Firefox Version=13.0.1 BuildID=20120614114901 SourceRepository=http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-release SourceStamp=f48d675ffa9f ID={ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} [Gecko] MinVersion=13.0.1 MaxVersion=13.0.1 [XRE] EnableProfileMigrator=1 EnableExtensionManager=1 [Crash Reporter] Enabled=1 ServerURL=https://crash-reports.mozilla.com/submit?id={ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}&version=13.0.1&buildid=20120614114901 System info: Linux 3.4.4-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Jun 24 18:59:47 CEST 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux Expected results: Firefox should have started. Failing that, I'd expect it to start in safe mode. Failing that, I'd expect the problem to be with my profile or with the lack of some external system requirement. But clearly that's not the case - profile works fine with the US Firefox from my distro and the missing library is not an external system requirement.
