As demonstrated in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hw2EaXBRBs, the homepage and default search are still set to AVG after it is disabled. It's likely that also the default search URL is also set to AVG. All of these settings should be restored to their previous values once the add-on is disabled or uninstalled.

We're discussing this with AVG at the moment, and will try to get an ETA for a fix.

AVG released an update that clears all setting changes after uninstall. However, setting changes are still applied even if you opt-out in the external add-on install screen, and they are not reset if the add-on is disabled.

We're currently talking to them about this.

The current state of the installer is that it has options for homepage and search settings, which are reverted upon removal of the application. However, they are not tied to the add-on, so you could remove the add-on without having these settings changes reverted.

I just let them know about this.

AVG is malware.  The "AVG Security Toolbar" add-on does not have a "remove" button.

I guess it's no longer worth chasing this now that we don't support legacy add-ons on release anymore, unless we think enough users are still on ESR52 *and* using this add-on *and* if AVG is still updating it somehow? Jorge?
