a step by step how to discover the strange things happening in mozillas bookmark
manager

1. clicking bookmarks in the top menu bar and choosing manage bookmarks
2. right click the root folder and choose "new folder" from the
   context sensitive popup menu
Now you get a Folder labeled "New Folder".
3. select the folder carefully so that you dont select its label
4. choose edit and copy from the top menu in the bookmark window
5. now try to paste the folder anywhere. it wont do.
6. if you look in the bookmarks list the folder "New Folder" wont be visible
7. if you close and re-open the bookmark window, the "New Folder" has vanished
8. next time you were at step 3, try to rename the folder - it wont work.

?But somehow i have created folders earlier.. please tell me how!
now for "folders - the real business" (now it gets tougher)

1. click the "new folder tab" in the menu bar below the top menu bar
   (its the scnd menu bar from the top)
2. if you ever want to rename the "New Folder" - do it now!
   (if you dont do it now, right click menu wont work)
3. if you didnt rename your "New Folder" labeled folder, try to delete it with
   the "del" key from the keybard: if you were as lucky as me, mozilla vanishes
   as a whole.

   ok i stop here. you can produce as many bugs as you want playing with the folder
   manager - its far from complete, thats what i wanted to report here.

   still work to do! but i like the product already, i have dropped "netscape".

Actual Results:  managing bookmarks is possibly but a pain.

Expected Results:  remove some bugs.

try to drag and drop bookmarks in the bookmark window - it isnt implemented. you
can only cut and paste them, risking data loss.

Hey, please try at least the latest version before saying something is
completely buggy ;-) Admittedly it's not perfect yet, but the 0.9 version of the
bookmarks manager should be mucho better (0.8.1 is over a month old and lots of
fixes have gone in). Using latest nightly :

The first part of the report supposedly has been fixed for 0.9. (worksforme)
*How to create folders : in 0.8.1, you have to scroll to the bottom of the
window otherwise it will have the effects you described. In 0.9 it scrolls
automatically downwards so you won't see the bug. Simply rename the folder and
hit enter, that's it.
Note for future bug reports : please only one bug per report, it makes
everyone's life easier, thanks alot for this detailed bug!

Strangely enough, in Mozilla 20010425 we kind of have the same problem.

I made a new bookmark, used the Save bookmark as.. option, made a new folder,
renamed it, and put the url in that folder.

Now, if I open my bookmark list, the new folder is nowhere to be seen, but it
can be seen in the add bookmark section.

I deleted the bookmark, and did it all again, but I still miss it in my bookmark
list.

I've had several problems with a crashing manage bookmarks tool too, also I
noted that I cannot use the "Del" key on the keyboard to delete bookmarks or
folders (neither 20010323 nor 20010426). Also, sometimes I deleted my Personal
Toolbar folder, which seemed to succeed, then I imported a bookmarks file with
another Personal Toolbar folder in it, this worked okay, but the links from the
old folder came back in...

Very weird things happening here. :)

Q: When is 0.9 coming out
