User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8) AppleWebKit/536.25 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Safari/536.25 Steps to reproduce: Closed the "About MDN" panel that appears on the new home page, went to a different page, and then came back to the home page. Actual results: It closed! But when I came back to the page it was open again. ` Expected results: I'd assume this should be cookied to stay closed if I close it.

Good point. We are considering doing a redesign, so this might be wrapped into that.

Does anyone object to removing the close button? The homepage looks awkward without it. I'd rather we replaced this with a slideshow with 3 slides which point people to different parts of the site.

We filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=721172 a while back to better control various dialog boxes' open/closed states. But for now, I wouldn't mind just closing the whole "About MDN" panel completely at page-render. Let the user see the panel if/when they click the "About" tab.

Maybe we should revisit this when we do the MDN redesign.

This is resolved now that we've gotten rid of that box entirely.
