Devices affected:

Motorola MB525
LGE LG-P920
Samsung GT-I9003
Samsung SGH-I997
Samsung SGH-T839
HUAWEI u8800

All those are running Froyo (Android 2.2.1 I think is what I saw for most or all of them), and this started happening with way higher frequency around 2012-08-08 18:00 UTC, the primary signature had 2-4 crashes per day before, on 7th it had 33, on 8 it had 98, and it's continuing high today.
The increase seems to be mostly because the Motorola MB525 has started to hit this crash that other devices have rarely hit before already. It looks like the Samsung GT-I9003 started to hit it at the same time as well, though (but with lower overall numbers).
Overall, with the 98 crashes, this was the #23 signature for 14.0.1 yesterday.

Also, this is a startup crash, it's extremely rare to see this signature with a Firefox process uptime of more than 30 seconds, most are within the first 10 seconds.

Naoki and me just discussed this and looked over the data, and our estimate is that this is some kind of bug in the Froyo Dalvik engine that got triggered due to some kind of update. We're unsure what kind of update this could have been.

The crash is seen with 14.0, 14.0.1, and 15 beta versions at least.

Ouch, sorry, 2012-08-07 18:00 UTC is the correct date.
