At present, Firefox essentially contains two different, partially-overlapping implementations of the same thing: Search Plugins provide an OpenSearch-based way to specify search engines for the address bar and search box, but don't appear in the AwesomeBar drop-down when they match. Quicksearch Bookmarks provide a way to specify search engines for the address bar which makes it easy to create your own quickly, but they don't appear in the search box. I think Firefox is long overdue for a single search implementation which is: - Based on OpenSearch but has a GUI for creating new entries in the simple, common case. - Compatible with the search box while still appearing in the AwesomeBar results list
