Click on the columns popup menu just above the message list scrollbar. If you click and hold, another menu will popup above the columns popup, making it inaccessible.
In fact, just clicking and holding in the scrollbar itself brings up the same popup menu. Very annoying!

The menu that appears when you click-and-hold or right-click the column headers is the same one that you see when you right-click a message. And there's this extra, non-standard button off to the side you have to use to change which columns are displayed. Why not just make the contextual menu that's displayed over the column headers a list of which columns are active and which aren't? This is what OE5 does, and it's quite intuitive. That would obviate the need for the non-standard (and confusing, IMHO) column-header-that's-not-really-a-column-header-but-is-in-fact-a-button. That would get rid of this bug entirely, as there would once again be only one contextual menu defined to open over the column header region. Should I open an RFE on this?

This also true for every columns title. Quite annoying.
This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies there as well or resolve this bug. I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken. To filter this and similar messages out, please filter for "mac_cla_reorg".
The columns popup in Mail misbehaves in Moz 2004092005. It refuses to open unless I click the button, then right-click. This is probably a different bug than the original one though.

Confirming since Comment #0 is still valid even though it's not until release you'll get the columns popup (click-hold brings up the context menu and it's still there when you release, so you'll end up with 2 menus)
