User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090823 SeaMonkey/1.1.18 Build ID: 2009082315 Steps to reproduce: Not a bug but a request. When detaching a file whose name exists, the options are to overwrite or cancel the detach. I would like the ability to replace the attached file in the message with the link to an existing file, not necessarily the same name, without the overwrite either as a separate menu option or as an option of detach. Forwards and reply copies would retain the link but the linked file would actually be attached to the sent message (I couldn't tell for sure whether this request already exists) Actual results: N/A Expected results: I would like to remove attached files that already exist on my system from messages in my mail folders and replace the mail folder copy with a link to the existing file to greatly reduce mail folder files. At present it seems that you can only detach an attached file from one such message (outgoing or incoming) referencing this file. Subsequent attempts to detach the same file from another message only allows overwrite (which would change date/time info and make an unneeded overwrite) or cancellation of the detachment. This intuitively seems like a simple enhancement to optionally short-circuit the file write (overwrite) and replace it with a link to the file as detach presently does after performing the write. Presumably, this request would apply to Thunderbird, as well. Thanks for the good work you guys do.
