Bug 78414 can be approached in several different ways. One of these is to prevent certain keys from going to a plugin even when it has focus, and instead being processed within Firefox.

This is not possible at the moment according to bug 78414 comment 3, bug 78414 comment 27, bug 78414 comment 181, bug 78414 comment 185). This bug is to come up with and implement a way to intercept keys before they reach a focused plugin on all supported platforms.
The "certain keys" could be taken from bug 93149 comment 37
Is this really Firefox-specific?  Why not Product->Core?
