User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 Build ID: 20120824154833 Steps to reproduce: signed.applets.codebase_principal_support added this preference to about:config Actual results: It said that I was not allowed to do what that should have allowed me to do. In other words - absolutely nothing. Note: We had to go through this process in 14.0, but it resolved the issue there. When it pops up the error, it takes you to a page explaining how to solve the issue: http://www.febooti.com/support/website-help/website-javascript-copy-clipboard.html unfortunately what was a simple fix in 14 now is completely useless. Expected results: It should have allowed me to copy items to clipboard (embedded button from web page)
Could you provide a website URL with a button to copy items to clipboard, please.
I will provide info. http://blb.org has the button to copy items to clipboard but hasn't worked with the last couple versions of FF. Here is a link to the method that has been working for years http://www.blueletterbible.org/help/javascript-clipboard.cfm To test it out, click on this link and you will find tiny white check boxes next to each sentence. Put a check mark into the first couple of check boxes and then scroll to the top and click on the check box next to the words "copy options". http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Jam&c=2&v=1&t=KJV Normally, if your signed.applets.codebase_principal_support is set to true then the sentences that are checked will be copied to your clipboard.
Thank you! I was hoping someone would post a public site that exemplifies this bug. I couldn't post an example because it's on our intranet. I can verify that the website you linked to works in FF 16.0.2 (what we use due to this not working in subsequent versions).
STR: 1) Set about:config > signed.applets.codebase_principal_support = true 2) Open http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Jam&c=2&v=1&t=KJV 3) Select a white box in the column (e.g. before "Jam 2:1") 4) Select the white box on he right of "copy options" Result: Error message: "Your current Internet Security settings do not allow data copying to clipboard. Do you want to learn more about enabling data copying to clipboard in your browser?" Insteaf of: "A script from "http://www.blueletterbible.org" is requesting enhanced abilities that are UNSAFE and could be used to compromise your machine or data: Run or install software on your machine Allow these abilities only if you trust this source to be free of viruses or malicious programs." Yep, we removed support for enablePrivilege and all that stuff. See bug 546848 comment 57.
