I noticed that Fennec had not synced since September 1st. Going to the account info and hitting 'Sync Now' fixed that.
Considering the password manager references in there ... at one point Fennec asked e to setup a password. Probably because I wanted to remember a login password. But then the next time it asked me to unlock the password manager I hit Cancel instead of entering that password. And afaik it has never asked me again.
Is it possible that Sync now has trouble accessing stuff from the password db?
(Not sure why it eventually correctly synced though. As I have not unlocked anything)

Note that the sync completed, but you can't sync passwords with MP enabled (see Bug 711636).
You might want to file a Fennec bug if you can reproduce some odd behavior with MP itself (e.g., not prompting), but I'm going to dupe this.
