it would be cool if the mailer would be able to sit in the windows tray, so you
could be able to have it in background to have it check for mails all the time
and then inform you with a sound or an animated icon or something
Reproducible: Always

You can do that already. Go to your account prefs, "Edit > Mail/News Account
Settings...", then click on your account's Server Settings and there you have
options for enabling automatic checking and download of your email.
If you also want to hear a sound every time there is new email available, go to
Preferences > Mail and Newsgroups and click the checkbox there.
Marking INVALID as all the suggested features are already implemented.

The `tray feature'? You can minimize the mailnews window and have it check for
new email, download it, and play a sound. What more do you want?
Still, I think this is INVALID. CC stephend for verification.

nop, it blocks room in your task bar, it would just be more handy if it could
go to tray!

I don't like this at all. Also, it's kind of hard to implement OS specific stuff
like this - there's no tray in MacOS, BeOS, OS/2 or Linux for example.

That's why we have the `pp' keyword, Håkan.
Yes, we should show new mail in the system tray on Windows. The fact that we
don't do this is a known bug.
