This is a feature parity (see bug 18729) tracking bug for showing mail 
notification in the system tray, next to the clock, as we did on windows in 
4.x.

BeOS way is to create Deskbar replicant, but this is careful task.
Need more info about problem and existing code for other OS-es.

MDR Provides Mail notification in the deskbar already, perhaps, it would be
better  to try and integrate BeZilla Mail to be handled by Mail Daemon replacement,
