User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Iceweasel/17.0a2 Build ID: 20120921042009 Steps to reproduce: Hit CTRL-T to create a 'New Tab' tab. Then entered a bad URL like http://h.k.l/ and hit ENTER. Actual results: Nothing. Expected results: A warning that that site cannot be found.
I can't reproduce this with Build Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Reporter: Can you please try it without addons (Help/Restart with addons disabled) and if you still get the issue download a binary build from mozilla.org (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox(nightly/... ) , extract it to for example /tmo and run it from there.
OK, I tried that and it proved the problem must lie in the Debian version. I will contact them.
