User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1
Build ID: 20120928103144
Steps to reproduce:
I am using Firefox version 15 in gnome-shell with Thumbnail Zoom plus extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/thumbnail-zoom-plus/). I use the extension to zoom into the thumbnail.
Here's a brief discussion with me and the extension developer: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2054711.
Bug report filed with gnome-shell: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=685185
Actual results:
Whenever I zoom the thumbnail using the extension, Firefox loses focus and I then have to click on Firefox to give back the focus. This is annoying and disrupts the workflow.
Expected results:
When I zoom over the thumbnail, I should see the zoomed in thumbnail without Firefox losing focus. That way, once I move my mouse cursor away from the thumbnail, I can still interact with Firefox using my keyboard without clicking on Firefox to give focus back to it.

This issue doesn't reproduce on Ubuntu 12.04. If anyone else using the same flavor of Linux as the reporter can confirm the bug, please do so.

I can confirm this bug. I am using elementaryOS 0.2 "Luna" which is based on Ubuntu 12.04. The window manager is based on the window manager used in gnome-shell. I can reproduce the issue and can confirm it's pretty annoying!

If you have random focus issues running Firefox or Thunderbird on Ubuntu (or any other debian derivative), please, check if process called "unclutter" is running.
It seems that the default configuration of "unclutter" package causes some kind of race condition that causes random focus issues with Firefox and Thunderbird. Running unclutter with flag "-noevents" instead may workaround the problem.

I can confirm that the potential bug is still present in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS w/ Firefox 30.0 - any version of thumbnail zoom plus.

I am having the same problem running Gnome 3.20.2 on Antergos Linux (Arch derivative) without `unclutter` running.

This is about a legacy extension which is no longer valid in Firefox Quantum, closing.
