Per bug 789251 comment 31, a newer version of DbgHelp.dll might do a better job of writing minidumps for certain crashes (where we currently get 0-byte minidumps). We can pretty easily redistribute a newer version of it just by dropping it in next to the Firefox binary, and the build slaves already have WinDBG installed, so it should just be a matter of copying the file out of the install directory.
We'll need to mention this in the license text like bug 630628 comment 16.
This is exciting to me, because as you may recall I get lots of EMPTY firefox crash reports :) From windbg I have put DbgHelp.dll 6.12 in my firefox directory on Vista PC and will report results. version 6.0 is currently in \system32 DbgHelp.dll versions are documented at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms679294%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

I've crashed several times now with newer DbgHelp.dll and it didn't help me :( If you have something better than DbgHelp.dll 6.12 for vista i'll be happy to try it.
(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #3) > I've crashed several times now with newer DbgHelp.dll and it didn't help me wow, what lack of clarity. What I mean by that is, my crashes are still @ Empty ala bug 711568
Thanks for the testing. Bummer that it didn't help your crashes!
