Details

Immediately after first migrated profile open, and opening a few pages, back
button is greyed out. Ctrl-H history is empty except for folders with no
contents. Alt-Left Arrow does nothing. No way to get where you came from unless
it's a URL that was typed in and available in the dropdown.

After several remigrations starting fresh, it appeared the way to break
the navigation buttons and history was to close "my sidebar" and/or make
preference changes on first open after migrating to a profile that opens
a blank browser window, and *not* open any page prior to changing prefs
and/or turning off "my sidebar".

After further use, disappearing navigation buttons appears to be random. I was
working bugzilla and set about to submit an update on another bug. Once done I
noticed the back button was greyed, and I was in the only Mozilla session. To
regain the use of the back button I had to close Mozilla and reopen.
this has nothing to do with global history - you're seeing this all over the
product! Reassigning to Browser-General, mkaply for OS/2 issues

Did you migrate a 4.x profile or an Old mozilla profile?

Did you try this with a brand new profile? (no migration at all)
Migrated from Communicator 4.61 (several different times). All old Mozilla
profiles/files were eradicated prior to opening 2001050812. Creating new profile
without migration was not attempted on system since early Feb 2001 drop. I
thought global history appropriate due to empty Ctrl-H window indicating all
history missing.
Reporter, can you duplicate with a new, nonimported profile?
For create new profile with profile manager after migrating existing profiles,
the behavior is different from that originally reported. Gone is the problem
with the back button being greyed out, but history is still fubar. Visited
pages disappear from history and are unreachable with either Ctrl-H, or the
back for forward buttons.

Immediate previous session was original session with the virgin profile. During
that session, modern was applied after visiting several pages, including Google
and Profusion, then the session closed for restart with modern active.

Actual history for current session is as follows:
1-default mozilla.org page
2-local file [path]index.html (this is the page brought up by "home")
set this local page to "home"
3-local file [path]main.html (via redirect from index.html)
4-local file [path]index.html (again, from hitting "home" button)
5-local file [path]main.html (again)
6-http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/

Actual pages available using back/fwd buttons are:
1-default mozilla.org page
3/5-local file [path]main.html (originally via redirect from index.html)
6-http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/

Actual contents of Ctrl-H window omit:
2-local file [path]index.html (this is the page brought up by "home")
3-local file [path]main.html (via redirect from index.html)
4-local file [path]index.html (again, from hitting "home" button)
5-local file [path]main.html (again)

When using the back/fwd buttons, the activity clock comes up as if the pages
missing from history were being displayed, but the actual display pane does not
change until enough back/fwd button clicks are registered to reach a page that
is not missing from available history.

Build is vacpp OS/2 2001062912.

Keyword "frames" applies to bug 56062. Though a solution to this may be related
to a solution to bug 56062, this bug has nothing to do with frames. IOW,
recreate does not require inclusion of any frames pages in history path.
