Segmented downloading would improve downloading time and, if we also used the mirrors, would lower the CDN servers' load.

In bug 836044 we found that chunked downloads broke due to our CDN and how we reuse urls. I think that resources would be better used elsewhere but if this bug were to be fixed the issue with our CDN would first need to be fixed. Resolving wontfix with the caveat that if the issue with the way we reuse urls and our CDN is fixed then I would be fine with reopening this bug after it has been fixed.
