Now and then my password to my IMAP server seems to be "lost"(Need to retype it
and save it again).
Haven't found any "logic" about this and the time between is random.
I only save my password for my IMAP folder so I can't say if this happens with
all types of password(PSM problem)?
This bug have been available since 0.8.1(when I started to use Mozilla).
(Made a quick search on password on BugZilla but couldn't find any duplicates.
Probably need new eyes(as usual)).
Mozilla version:
* Mozilla 0.9+
* Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010508

win98: buildid: 2001050906, 2001050706.
This has happened to me using commercial builds. Don't know what in particular
triggered to loose my password that was saved. I have multiple accounts set up
(2 imap, 1 pop) I had saved password for all the accounts in the password
manager. I would launch mail and use that profile to do my daily testing. I also
switch back and forth between different accounts. I remember seeing 'Login
failed' alert with an ok button when I went back to my first Imap account.
After okaying the dialog I was prompted with the password dialog to login again.
I checked the password manager and the password was gone which I had previously
saved. This also happened to my second imap account. However, have not seen
this problem on my pop account yet.

I have seen this problem many times with POP3 servers. My ISP's mail servers
are pretty flakey and I think it has something to do with there being some sort
of problem connecting to the mail server or making it all the way through
authentication and download of messages. I get the "Login Failed" and have to
reenter my password.
It seems to me that there needs to be some smarts that detects the connection
just timed out instead of deciding the "login failed". Give the option to retry
the connection, give up, or enter new password.
I have been having this problem on my POP3 account since .9.1. It had originally
stores my password just fine however I cleared all of the passwords in password
manager so that I could end up entering my mail password one more time to make
sure I remembered it (it was a new account) and ever since then I cannot get it
to store itself in the manager. I check the box every time I am asked yet it
does not appear in the list of stored passwords in the manager. It also
sometimes is able to retrieve mail without asking me for the password. It is
driving me insane please fix this bug soon. Also is there a way to
manually/forcefully add passwords to the manager?
I was just talking to a friend, and he and I both have the same problem... We
both use Rogers@Home here in Ontario, Canada, and their mail servers are
notoriously flaky.
Whenever they go down, Mozilla fails to connect to the servers, and correctly
notifies us of this. But when the servers come back up, Mozilla has forgotten
the password. Rather annoying, especially when there are multiple accounts...
I've been seeing this behaviour for quite a while -- currently on 0.9.7.
Does this fit what other people have seen? Does anyone know of any other related
or similar bugs?

Hi, I get this problem just about every other day with Rogers when they take
there server down for what ever reason. It too will fail to log in to the
server (with the server stating to retry in 5 minutes) as it is down for
service. This is very frustrating when I read this as I have to reenter the
passwords in Mozilla every time this happens (and this is multiple times a week,
sometimes even multiple times in a day, and I do have multiple accounts like my
friend). Now, I also read bug number 94107, and I think the problems could (but
not necessarily) be interconnected (hey - I could more then likely be way wrong
on this idea - even my friend thinks they are totally unrelated problems - but
it's still food for thought).
was this fixed in bug 160425?

No response from reporter in over 30 days. On the basis of comment 2 in
particular, it seems most likely that this problem was resolved in bug 160425.
Marking as such.
If this problem continues on current trunk builds, then please reopen this bug.
