Hello -

When I'm going through mail messages and marking them as deleted from my IMAP
server, if the message I delete is the last visible header then it will remain
highlighted as the pane scrolls down and the next message is highlighted. If I
continue deleting, the highlighting remains.

I'm using Build 2001032319 on Windows ME... Hope this helps...

Huh? how is this a dup of bug 59694?

reporter, could you give a step by step way of reproducing the bug?
Reopening this bug.
Yes. This is different as bug 59694.

Gladly. I'll try to get y'all a screen shot in the next couple of days, but I'm
moving out of my apartment into a house so my winME box isn't up and running,
let alone connected to the net.

Open up an IMAP mailbox with plenty of messages. The account should be set to
"Mark as deleted". The Mail client should have the folder list, the message
list, and the preview pane. Start at the top of the list of messages by
highlighting the message and letting it appear in the preview pane. Then click
the delete button from the button bar. As expected, the message is marked for
deletion, it is deselected, and the next message in the mailbox is selected and
previewed. When I say selected that is to say that the information in the
message list is highlighted. Continue deleting messages and witnessing the same
behavior. The highlight should work its way down the visible portion of the
message list.

However, when it gets to the bottom of the visible portion of the message list,
a message is deleted, and the message list has to scroll in order to make the
next message listing visible, it fails to deselect the message that was deleted.
So if you continue deleting messages and forcing the message list to scroll,
every message you delete will remain highlighted. It's a GUI mistake.

I'll work on getting you that screen shot.

Could you try a more recent build? I can't reproduce this on a build from 5/25
whereas it looks like you are using a build from 3/23.
You're correct. I was using 0.8.1. 0.9 has avoided the problem because it
doesn't move down to the next message after you click delete. This in my opinion
is a step backwards, but that's just my $.02... when I delete a message, it
suggests I don't want to look at it anymore, so scrolling to the next message
seems like the logical thing for Mozilla to do. Do with this bug what you please.
*** Bug 65823 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Problem can be reproduced on 07-19-05-0.9.2 build.

Updating the summary for reflecting the current status & problems:

The highlight is moving to next "marked as deleted" message now (it should move
to next Non-deleted msg -> bug 65823).....

But, if the message I marked as deleted is the LAST message:

Actual Results: It will remain highlighted
Expected results: It should "unhighlight" the LAST "marked as deleted" msg.

I am thinking that this bug is blocking bug 65823, without this fix, it won't
perform bug 65823 functionality.

Blocks: 65823
Summary: Failure to unhighlight message upon deletion → Failure to unhighlight LAST marked as delete message on the thread pane
My sonario is a little different. I am using an IMAP account. When I find a
message that I want to reply to, I reply and then send the message. However when
I try to select the next message (it doesn't have to be in the bottom of the
visiable list) I can not load any other messages. I have to stop and restart
either the mail viewer app, or my dial up connection. OS is Windows XP. The next
button will move the message "cursor", except the next message appears to be
requested but it is never loaded from the ISP server.
Re comment #11: i think that may have to do with mozilla mail not dealing well
with ISP's changing your IP address during a session.
Can we mark this as target milestone 1.6a?
