Attached image ff16-bug-1.png
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0
Build ID: 20121010144125

Steps to reproduce:

I installed FF16 over 15 (using the FF updater)

Actual results:

Whenever I get a popup menu, either via right click or from the File, Edit, etc. bar, the menu flashes the proper content then disappears leaving only a drop-shadow. Also the dropdowns for autocomplete do the same thing

Expected results:

The menu should have stayed in place.
Attached image menus do it too
Also be advised that it all words in safe mode. But does not work in regular mode even when all add-ons are disabled.

This is pretty big doe me as I cannot use spell-check or the menus.
Please disable the hardware acceleration in (alt key)/Tools/options/advanced/general followed by a Firefox restart.

In case that this makes it working, post the graphic section (and not everything) from about:support here, thanks.
FYI
I heard that third party theme causes this problem.
There is no 3rd party theme. That is the "windows classic" theme of windows and FF following it.
Disabling the graphics acceleration works.

Tried 16.0.2, still exists.
Tried 17 and now 18. Still broken.

Just forget it. I'm switching to Chrome. 3 months of stitting at "unconfirmed". I'm not going to keep looking at blurry fonts because you refuse fix flicker.
Are you using one display or more?
Two. The integrated laptop display and a 24" LCD.
It may be fixed in Firefox 18 (which is Beta now), see bug 800701.

Firefox18 got released today...
Yes, and I am running FF18. The problem persists. I keep checking in with each FF release, hoping it is fixed.

As a side note - it seems that Adobe Flash does not like having graphics acceleration disabled. Sometimes it'll work. but it is a frequent thing that flash (including video) does not work. So I have to disable acceleration.
OOH, I just realized something. In flipping between acclerated/unaccerlated modes, The menus *are* working however the URL bar and search bar dropdowns still have the problem.

I'm half way to happy :-)
Can you try Firefox 19 (or just the latest nightly) for your dropdown issue? It's probably fixed by bug 802456 which didn't land in 18.
