Steps to reproduce:

Nothing: the program compact the inbox folder when needed.


Actual results:

I had a message selected. When the system finishes the operation, the selection jump to another message.


Expected results:

The selected message should be the same than before.

I've seen a similar behaviour here for a long time but thought it wasn't worth reporting.

I have mail.purge.ask set to true an about:config (not the default: ask me before compacting folders) and what I notice after compacting is the following:

- There is no "selected" message anymore (no white-on-blue title in the threads folder)
- the "current" folder, as shown by the following custom rule in userChrome.css, is unchanged:

oldie but goodie. And I should think not hard to fix.
