RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 723487

People

(Reporter: wed080+mozilla, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0
Build ID: 20121010144125

Steps to reproduce:

Updated Aurora channel from Firefox 17 to 18, in Mandriva 2010.

Actual results:

Firefox would no longer start. Terminal showed:

"XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libxpcom.so:
libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM."

In fact libxul.so is in usr/lib/firefox !

Reverted to Firefox 17 and all was well again.

Expected results:

Firefox should start.
Please follow the suggestions from Comment 25.

Thank you for your suggestion. I followed the instructions in Comment 25 but Firefox would not start. I got the error message "cannot execute binary file".
Are you on a 64 bit system? 64 bit binary won't run too well on a 32 bit machine.
No, I am on a 32 bit machine. Is there any other solution I can try to get round this bug?
