When visiting Kickstarter's new team page in Firefox 16.0.2 (http://www.kickstarter.com/team), the memory usage of Firefox shoots up to 3.1GB and the CPU usage shoots to more than 100% (it uses 100% of one core and some other of another). The CPU temperature also shoots upto 96 degree C. This issue is being experienced by quite a few other users of Firefox also (Check out this thread : http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4703735 and specifically these comments : http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4704722 , http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4704313 , http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4704070). It was eventually killed by the OS (Linux Ubuntu) due to out of memory.

I tried this in my Nightly from 27th October, and although the browser didn't crash or the memory usage didn't shoot up that much, it was still using around 90% of a single core and the CPU temperature shot up to 96 degree C.

My CPU temperature normally keeps around 61 degree C, hence these two instances when the CPU temperature shot up is certainly abnormal.

I am attaching the information from about:support from my Firefox 16.0.2 (which had crashed).

I would be happy to provide any other information required to help diagnose this bug.

I've had to restart my Mac when this happened. It has happened clicking the Remind Me button on one project and after I hit enter on the address confirmation screen of another project

Can you still reproduce this hang?

Using nighly build on windows I see 12% cpu usage, which doesn't happen in chrome. But I didn't try with firefox in safe mode?

This still happens in Firefox 50.1.0 (32bit build running Win7 x64, QuadCore)
Even in safe mode - as soon as any kickstarter page is opened, CPU-usage is 25%+ for Firefox
