There ought to be a preference item to ignore the <body ...onunload="showAnnoyingAdd()"> feature, shoot those who use it, and lynch those who also put one inside the damn popup (creating a situation requiring a `killall mozilla-bin' to close the damn window). But, since it'd be hard to actually pull off the shootings and lynchings, and their legality is questionable, I'd be happy if mozilla just ignored them or, even better, allowed you to treat them like cookies and images.

There are legitimate uses for onunload, such as notifying a parent window that you've been closed. However, opening pop-up ads isn't one of them. I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 33448, "disable 'new window' when close box clicked (no window.open in onUnload)". Reopen this bug if you disagree. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 33448 ***
