I see this also when doing ./flash.sh gecko Its related to gecko not shutting down cleanly when trying to start it up again. Usually if I reboot the phone and then do it as the first thing, it works fairly well. Presumably this will still need to be fixed for doing upgrades (which also stops gecko). One thing to check is that all of b2g processes are gone before trying to start the apitrace (i.e. b2g-ps returns nothing)
