https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/941011 Change the pref value for Font.name-list.sans-serif.ja to include Roboto and Droid Sans to the font list. Should we do this for other Asian languages?

Yes, it looks like this would be a good idea; it makes Latin-script text within Japanese pages look much nicer.
