Steps to reproduce:

1. Click on a video on YouTube to play the video. Video plays normally.
2. Click on the "Change Quality" icon to change the resolution to HD or 480, or just pause the video to let it buffer, or click the replay icon after the video completes.
3. Then try to scroll on the page using the to search for related videos or read text.


Actual results:

Scrolling didn't respond. Clicking on the page didn't re-enable the scrolling. Disabling hardware acceleration didn't fix the issue. Testing with Adobe 11.4 and 10.3 also reproduces the issue. I'm currently using Adobe 11.5.502.110.

Clicking on another tab and then back again allows the scrolling to respond. 
Clicking on the Desktop and then clicking on the page allows the scrolling to respond again.
Clicking the RealPlayer download button to start a download and then clicking on the page enables the scrolling.

Testing for any conflict with RealPlayer by disabling the Realplalyer Download and Recording - RealPlayer>Preferences>Download and Recording>Enable Download and Recording for these installed browsers and unchecking the box- doesn't fix the issue. 

The scrolling problem reproduces on YouTube, but not on other sites like funny Or DIE, where you can't usually change resolution but after pausing the video, scrolling is automatically enabled without even having to click on the page.


Expected results:

After changing the resolution setting, or pausing the video, I should have been able to continue scrolling automatically without having to click on anything else first. 

Testing with Chrome 23 and IE9 does not reproduce the issue. I don't even have to click on the page to re-enable the scrolling with the other browsers. Other users have been reporting this and similar focus issues on the Support threads.

My OS is Window 7 Home Premium on an HP dv7t Pavillion Quad Edition with Firefox 16.0.2 and Adobe Flash 11.5.502.110.

Correction - Steps to reproduce: Step 3. should read "Then try to scroll on the page  to search for related videos or read text."
Uninstalling Flash 11.5 for both browsers and then Installing Adobe Flash 10.3.183.43 allows clicking on the page to re enable scrolling, but that shouldn't be necessary - it's not needed with IE9 or Chrome 23.
This issue isn't reproducible with the latest Nightly.

I couldn't access the Nightly you listed. Copying and pasting got no results matching the search. 

I installed the latest Nightly, version 20.0a1(2012-1-25).

In Firefox Safe Mode, the problem is reproducible exactly the same way. With Adobe 10.3 I have to click the page to reenable the scrolling after starting and then clicking on anything in a video on YouTube. Upgrading to the current Adobe 11.5, clicking on the page doesn't work, again. I still have to click on the desktop and then the page again.
 Update: Testing with HTML5 Video Player trial webm's.

1.Opting into the YouTube HTML5 video trial and playing a webm file does NOT reproduce this problem, with either the Adobe 10.3 or 11.5. http://www.youtube.com/html5. Then click "Join the HTML5 Trial".

2.Start to play a video on YouTube. 

3.Right click on video to check if it reads "About HTML5".  

4.Click to pause the video, or change the resolution in the video.

Scrolling continues without having to click on the page first with the Adobe 10.3

Upgrade to Adobe 11.5, for both Firefox 17 and Active X Flash for IE. The issue does not reproduce with webm's, only with .flv flash videos. 

I tested one webm, copied the url,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mXFVoX8INQ -  then opted out of the HTML5 test.... Right click on the video, then click on "About HTML5" and the "Leave the HTML5 Trial" is on the bottom of the page.

Then I pasted the url into Firefox and the same video  now played as an flv. and the extra clicking was now necessary again. I had to click on the desktop and then the page after pausing the video, to get the scrolling back, with Adobe 11.5.
All other troubleshooting steps fail to resolve this.... disabling hardware acceleration, ruling out Protected Mode,(still reproduces with 10.3)-there doesn't seem to be a Protected mode setting in the mms file in 11.5., running Firefox in Safe Mode - resetting Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, I get the same issue. But it doesn't reproduce  with the HTML5 webM format. Most videos are not available as webm's, though, and RealPlayer's download button is currently not appearing on the webm's but works normally with the .flv's.
Update: I had forgotten that Protected Mode does not show the third command line for it in the mms.cfg file and when I remembered that and disabled it by adding the command line ProtectedMode=0, the focus issue was partially resolved. You still have to click on the page again after pausing a video, but the other workarounds are not necessary. But this defeats the purpose of Protected Mode and you still have to click on the page again to get the focus back.

I posted a bug report on Adobe but they just marked it as a Duplicate. They're both loss of focus issues, but the symptoms are very different from the other report, so I don't see that as a duplicate and it didn't come up in my search.
This bug is a duplicate of bug 78414, and it is a known issue. After you set the focus on a plug-in content (click or move with the keyboard on a video, game etc) what ever mouse or keyboard control you use affects the plug-in content, not the rest of the web page/browser.

Until bug 78414 gets fixed, you will have to click outside the plug-in content (to move focus from it) if you want scrolling or other mouse/keyboard controls to work on the rest of the page/browser.

I was waiting for a follow up from you. I'm very happy to hear it's a known issue and that it's being worked on - that's all I wanted. At least disabling Protected Mode enables a single click on the page to get the focus back until this gets fixed. And I have excellent security software so I'm not worried about disabling Protected Mode.

And thanks for the explanation - it makes more sense, now.
