From a Yiddish user: the nightly build: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS 5.8 sun4u; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010516 Some letters appear to be chosen from a different font, in particular, the ones peculiar to Yiddish such as HEBREW LIGATURE YIDDISH DOUBLE VAV seems to be taken from a different-sized font. It appears that for Hebrew, Mozilla is using font misc-fixed-iso8859-8 at 16 pixels for variable-width and 13 pixels for fixed-width.
Reassign to ftang.

Prabhat, can you take this?
smontagu@il.ibm.com (Simon Montagu) on the netscape.public.mozilla.i18n newsgroup posted this > > I think this is a general problem in Mozilla, when a glyph is missing > in the current font, but available in some other font on the system. >
to debug this it would help: 1) to know what the encoding was: was there any meta/http tag what the charset menu indicated 2) to have a simple html file that shows the problem 3) to know what fonts are on the system 4) to know what the mozilla font settings were 5) to have the terminal output when displaying this page with environment variable NS_FONT_DEBUG set to 4

Arthur, is it possible to provide the screen shot? Also I want to know the info which locale the user is using. Prabhat, can you also see this problem on your environment?
it would help if we knew which fonts were being used please 1) set the environment variable NS_FONT_DEBUG to 5 and capture the output (ie: ./mozilla | tee moz.log) to a file and then attach to this bug 2) run xlsfonts, capture the output and attach to this bug
Prabhat, are you seeing this problem on your environment?
Changing QA contact to giladehven@hotmail.com. Changing component to "Bidi..." and adding intl keyword.

hi masaki, sorry for delay; No, i do not see this problem in my environment; Could the user provide his font selection? Specially font.name.monospace.he? I tested with the following font on Solaris: "-b&h-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-sans-0-140-72-72-m-70-iso8859-8"
Thanks, Prabhat. I also could not reproduce this problem on my environment. giladehven@hotmail.com, can you also try this ? If works, I want to mark this as FORKSFORME. Thanks.
Sorry I've been away - it's a long story. I'll pass the requests along to the user and get some response.
make a screen shot, please
Mass-move all BiDi Hebrew and Arabic qa to me, zach@zachlipton.com. Thank you Gilad for your service to this component, and best of luck to you in the future. Sholom.
