Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20121119183901 Steps to reproduce: My preferences for opening PDFs are set to "Always Ask". When opening a link with a PDF, such as: http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~geoff/classes/hmc.cs134.201209/slides/class01_intro_beamer.pdf the choice of application is ignored. Actual results: When the above link is clicked, the "what should firefox do with this file?" dialog appears. I clicked on "Open with" radio button and chose xpdf, which is my preferred application for this file. Then I clicked "OK". Instead of launching xpdf, FF launched evince. Expected results: Obviously, Firefox should honor the user's choice. The odd thing is that evince isn't even in my pulldown list, so I'm at a bit of a loss to understand why it was chosen. It is perhaps relevant that when I choose acroread, that application is launched. But choosing xpdf consistently launches evince. Go figure...
