I don't think this is a bug, just following the specs from https://people.mozilla.com/~lco/Legal_and_Privacy_B2G/Legal%20and%20Privacy%20wireframes%20v7%20DRAFT.pdf Would be nice to have confirmation about this anyway

Thanks for checking. That's branding copy so it will likely depend on the region. Pete, can you or someone from your team provide the necessary strings? Matej, I'm also cc'ing you on the bug in case you have more visibility than I do.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Websites/De_Todos_Para_Todos It's the title of an engagement effort.
Summary: [FTE] In Firefox Private Choices, tittle is in spanish (but english is the chosen language) → [FTE] In Firefox Private Choices, title is in spanish (but english is the chosen language)
I'm guessing we're using that headline since it was created specifically for the LatAm market, but we will need an English version as well (both for English and localization outside of LatAm).

Please, be aware that Brazil could be included in LatAm, but they speak Portuguese not Spanish

I assumed we already had this localized for Portuguese, but if not, we should make sure we get that (and for any other relevant languages).
Found this before filing a new bug on it: On a freshly imaged unagi phone (12-03 build) during first time setup: 1) choose en-US 2) go through english setup pages 3) one page (immediately after the "privacy page"), came up with spanish heading. I went by it quick, so not exactly correct, but the heading was something like "a todo, para todo"?! All other pages were correctly in english, just this one heading was in spanish. If this is an engagement effort, shouldnt an English string be displayed on English phones, and a Portuguese string displayed on Portuguese phones?
We should definitely change this; it will mean nothing to most en-US users. I suggest "By The People, For The People" as the equivalent English phrase. We put that on t-shirts too. :-) Gerv

"De todos, para todos" was specifically created for the LatAm market, but we haven't used anything like "By the people, for the people" in English for quite some time. Is it possible to have a different (i.e. not just localized) header in different locales, or does it have to be the same?
For the English, I also put forward these as possibilities: Different by design Doing good is part of our code Big ideals. Small screens.
1. Agree with all comments. It makes no sense for the message not to reflect the language selected. 2. Do we have translations of "Different by Design" as a headline? My guess is that we do since it's used on the Firefox web pages. 3. If so, Matej - would you see if "Different by Design" as a headline works with the current body copy. My sense is that it does 4. Who can confirm that the phone would be able to serve a translation that reflects the language selected by the user? Will implementing this change impact the delivery timeline? FYI - direct email is the best way to reach me. I do not follow Bugzilla mail due to the sheer volume of messages Thanks Pete

Another possibility is to drop the headline from that screen entirely. It's already a copy-heavy screen as it is and I don't feel like the headline is adding so much that it changes the message if we lose it. If we absolutely need something there, we could also reuse the Firefox OS wordmark from the previous screen.
I believe the simple answer here is translate this string to the default language selected. Can we focus the bug on this change? Any concerns or objections here?

Yes, must provide default language in english.

So I will add l10n string instead of hard coded one if keeping it is the final decision

(In reply to Chris Lee [:clee] from comment #13) > I believe the simple answer here is translate this string to the default > language selected. > > Can we focus the bug on this change? Any concerns or objections here? The issue is that De Todos, Para Todos is a line that isn't intended for use in all markets, so we shouldn't just translate it. We're trying to come up with something that will work across the board. The current options are: 1) Change it to "Different by design" and localize that (though we likely already have that localized in a number of languages) 2) Change it to "Firefox OS" to match the first screen 3) Remove the headline entirely from this screen
Target Milestone: --- → B2G C3 (12dec-1jan)
Let's remove the headline after speaking with all drivers. Can we focus the bug on this change? Thanks.
Header removal together with css rules

Thanks fcampo!
The patch is very straightforward and fix the issue. r+.
