What: Create video bumper for submissions (optional). Goal: To be provided as (optional) creative asset for participants to add to the end of their video. Production: Rainer & Spencer Responsible: Tobias Deadline: Bumper done on January 14th (Including quick round of feedback before that date. January 22nd is Flicks R1 launch + PR/Social action) Style: Please consider the new Firefox Flicks 2013 style. The logo will be updated as well. Coming-soon. Length: A couple of seconds. Format: Please decide what the very best format and resolution is for this. Since the video will be quite short, we can go top-res for sure. Dimensions 16:9? 2:3? x? Sound: Create Flicks sound logo? Surprise us ;) Idea: Any idea is welcome. Assets: - Creative: Waiting for Flicks 2013 creative assests. Tentative delivery date: December 17th. - Music: It is possible to re-use music from 2012 show-reel. It's free and I can actually edit things, it's via an open music maker. - Videos: I just invited you to the "Firefox Flicks 2013" folder on Dropbox. I hope you like using that. You can invite others. All winning videos are there, highest res. Copy: Main slogan needs to be finalized. Tentative one: "Get Mobilized"
Thanks Tobi - this sounds good. We can discuss more on Monday, but this might be something Chris Cranford could do. He built our current Firefox intro/outro animations, so we could build on those for this. Also, it sounds like he may be involved in Flicks again this year, so that's another connection.
Underneath a ZIP file containing 3 high-res video files. It's the bumper in 3 different colors and the idea is to provide all three of them to the participant. Colors: White/Grey/Orange. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12343904/FirefoxOS_Bumpers.zip (Size: 6.9mb) Note that the file names are just working names. The person putting together the final ZIP-file (which will also contain the FirefoxOS logo etc.) should take care of giving proper file names to all the files. Thanks!

Yes, Chris made them. He made them along the style of other assets he made earlier for John. The plan is to update them after MWC as soon as we're officially allowed to use the new Fox-graphic. This wordmark is all we got right now. Good?
Thanks Tobi. It would have been good to run these past creative before finalizing. As it is, I don't think they're quite right. Even if we can't use the new Firefox OS branding yet, I feel like we should offer a screen with the Firefox logo at the very least. I also imagined that we would offer more than one screen: a Get Mobilized screen, a logo screen and a URL screen. Something like that so entrants could choose what worked best for their video. If nothing else, I think we should look at the orange one again. The grey type on that background doesn't read very well. I would recommend trying white type on that one. On a related note, I thought I saw a conversation about removing the link to these assets for R1 of the site. Does that mean these are actually for R2? If so, that means we have more time to polish and get them right. Does any one have any additional or contrary feedback?
Afaik the creative asset zip download is r2, the creative brief PDF is r1
Yes, what Ben said :) Matej: I'd like to keep providing 3 different colors, just because it's nice. No? Sure, we can keep tweaking the colors for better contrast. I'd prefer to not split-up the bumper-file into 3 pieces. Is that what you mean Matej? Provide separate video files per "slide"? I think it's best we set the order of what happens in this one file, which will also make sure that they'll use all the things we'd like to see and e.g. not forget the URL. Also, I would like to keep it simple and self explaining, so I vote for one file (per color) only, not 3. Obviously - Anything's possible though. So how do you imagine the new bumper that includes the Firefox Logo? Should the screen not add-up anymore, but replace each other then? E.g.: [Logo slide] then [Get Mozilized slide] then [URL slide] ? If you can specify this with all the details you can think of - I'll be happy to make it happen. Thanks

No? > Sure, we can keep tweaking the colors for better contrast. I definitely want to keep the three colours, but I don't think the grey type is working on the orange background. Maybe white type on orange instead? > I'd prefer to not split-up the bumper-file into 3 pieces. Is that what you > mean Matej? Provide separate video files per "slide"? Yes, I think one super per screen over three screens. I would do it in this order: Get Mobilized -> Firefox logo + wordmark -> URL But if we're going to be replacing this with the new Firefox OS branding after MWC, should we just wait until then to even offer these? Otherwise some videos will have this branding and some will have the new stuff. It will also be hard to communicate to people who have already downloaded the assets that there is a new version.
Moving video bumpers to R2 even though these will be launched post R2 but well before R3.

Tobias: Do you have a more concreted date for these I could add to the schedule? Am I correct that these will go along with the zip asset download?

Thanks for asking Ben. We've had some discussions around this and the status on the bumper-assets is: No bumper assets to be included in the assets-ZIP-file until after MWC. I think we can say "March 4th" will be the date when these should go live. Maybe we can get them a week before that, but March 4th seems like a save date to plan for. Background: We decided to include the upcoming fox graphic in the bumper, but we can't use it yet. Not providing a bumper for the first weeks seemed to be a better solution then spreading 2 different versions. The bumper is optional, so we can still ping the early birds to give them a chance to re-upload their submission (Technically a problem?) Thought: We will probably announce the availability of the bumpers through our Flicks social media channels. Put something on the website as well?

Tobias: Were these video bumpers made? I'm seeing plenty of submissions with what appears to be a standard bumper. If so, can you close this bug?

Thanks for asking Mike. I will provide an updated ZIP file shortly. The bumper is done, but not the alternative blue-background version. Will post shortly.

Update: FYI: Bumpers are ready. They are in this zip file along with the other assets: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12343904/assets_18-03-2013.zip Mike: Will email-ping Craig, You and Ben about updating this file as well)
