1) Go to https://marketplace-dev.allizom.org/developers/ 2) Click "Publish your App" button. You are taken to https://marketplace-dev.allizom.org/developers/docs/mkt_hosting where it just *documents* the submission process. Scrolling down to the "Submit to Firefox Marketplace" heading and we have a link to MDN (not the Marketplace): https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Apps/Submitting_an_app 3) To actually submit an app, you have to know to click on "Submit an App" link in the sidebar. ... or if you were paying attention ... 1) Go to https://marketplace-dev.allizom.org/developers/ 2) Click the tiny "Submit an App" link in the header.

I'm more comfortable now that we have an icon.

This link was already very difficult for people to find in the recent testing we just did on the flow of submitting an app (only one of the participants found the text link on the first pass through the flow.) This icon is moving us in the wrong direction for findability. If I didn't know what had been there previously I would have no idea what that icon does. At the very least we need a caption on hover, but ideally the description of the icon should be visible since the icon isn't very clear about what it is, "submit an app" is not a concept that is easily iconized.

Tony, we wanted to add a tooltip on hover (currently it's just `title` attribute text) or just show the text below it all time. If you have ideas, let's track that in this bug and I can change it ASAP. I would prefer a big button that says "submit an app" but I know that the DevHub team wants to emphasize Publishing documentation over Submission.

It turns out that most people in our study came to this page looking for the submit form and clicked that big blue "Publish your App" button and were then confused and disappointed that they're taken to documentation. Ideally we would change those buttons verbs to something that's more clear like "learn" so it's clear that we are taking them to documentation and not something active. I think we can get away with the icon with the tooltip in the header as long as we prominently feature an entry to the submission form on the page itself. Let me do a quick sketch of what I'm thinking and I'll post it here.

I don't think a tooltip on hover is that useful and that icon in the header is just a mystery. Having something appear on hover requires users going over there in the first place. +1 for big clear text buttons.

So is there any way we can just add text under the icon? ***ducks***

Pardon the Photochop, it was the fastest way to get this into something I could post :) Something like this is what I was talking about in my previous comment.

Thanks for the mock! How should we solve the issue of the "submit app" basket icon in the header being unrecognizable? What should that look like?

I think I have a solution, but I need the icon in a format I can enlarge. Where did that icon come from and can I get it in whatever format it was created in?

The recent devhub landing page changes made the submit button much more visible (and prettier, IMHO). It's now actually a button. Please reopen if it's still not visible enough.
